New Changes Tax Changes for 2020 Tax Year

Employee Expense Deduction Returns for W2 employees

The new tax cut and jobs rules eliminated employee expense deductions in 2018 and beyond as a change to the Schedule A form. Only teachers and certain government employees were able able to take job expense deductions after the enactment of new 2018 tax laws. The IRS has decided to allow unreimbursed job expense deductions to be extended to all employees, in contrast to 2018-2019 filing years. The deductions form 2106 will be finalized towards early January of 2021. Tax credits for those affected by Covid 19 and natural disasters will be available for 2020. Larger refunds and less tax liability is more likely due to pandemic relief efforts from the government.
